It's $400 out of my budget...but it's so wonderful...But it's so expensive...but it's so well engineered...but it's so expensive...but look at those deep dish wheels...But it's so fucking expensive.......I guess I could work a bit more building fences and buy one.

Have you looked at the store brand bikes Nashbar sells? They seem to fairly priced and fair quality.

What is your budget?
I got a MEC urban bike for just over a grand. It's awesome.

Have you test ridden any of the bikes you keep obsessing over? Gotten fitted on any at a bike shop? If not, do so.
Ride some, see what fits you and feels good to ride. Don't buy purely on online reviews and information.
/sorry in advance if I've got the wrong impression here, just trying to help

That looks suspiciously like a full-on race bike. (I don't know the full Cervelo range, but despite the use of mechanical deraillieurs, that's not a lot of spokes.) They function a lot like Formula One cars in that they're spectacularly light, remarkably fragile, and you should only buy one if you can afford to fully replace it next year.
Or you can get something sturdy that will last until the end of the cosmos.

Actually no it's not a race bike. It's a touring bike (with deep dish wheels). I wouldn't buy a race bike, those things are way too stiff.

I live out in the middle of no where and the only dealer near me doesn't carry the bikes I'm interested in (base model specialized). Most of the bike dealers are in NOLA which is 300 miles away. I'm waiting for probably late november to roll around and then I'll go try a lot of them out.

Definitely go try them before buying. Good deals to be had right now as shops try to clear out their remaining stock before winter. Entry level Specialized is always a solid choice.
Speaking of which, I live pretty far out too but went to a bike show in Toronto last weekend where bike shops in the area bring their left-over inventory. Finding a frame in my size (60-62 cm, depending on the manufacturer) proved to be fairly difficult [expected] but after trying a couple of Specializeds, a Cannondale, a Focus, and another I don't remember, I ended up with a 2013 Allez Elite at a price that pleased me.

The Allez Elite is a great bike! Congrats! Is it that awesome neon blue and green one? Any who I ride about the same, 60-62. But I really want a carbon endurance bike for the ride comfort because our roads are horrible. Also because Carbon Fiber is awesome.

I prefer a more subtle paint scheme so thankfully it's not one of the bright colours. It's a matte grey with red/black accents. I took a picture, one sec, I'll find it.
Here it is:

Oh and here's some advice I got on entry level Carbon bikes:
At the price of a decent Aluminum bike (like the Allez) with good components (upper end Allez), you might find a carbon bike with [likely] worse components with a negligible or nonexistent weight difference. You may gain a bit of comfort but for the fragility, an aluminum bike is a better all-around choice. One [inevitable] crash on the carbon bike and you may very well compromise the whole frame. An aluminum bike can take a bit of punishment that way and I'll gladly take a bit less comfort for that trade-off.

But how do you mount 200lb of gear? And can you fix the drivetrain with a string and a brick?

That's what I did. I got fitted when I was looking for a road bike. The frames with the best geometry for me were Felt, Ridley and Cannondale. Picked up a Ridley Icarus Apex. Great bike.
When I picked it up (in front of my old car)

It might be like Performance Bikes...mid-high level bikes that are very limited in options...and are ruled by corporate rulers.

Can I do a cycling column on oppo?

Sure, why not. I'd read it. You need to get the mods to approve you first though.

I'm getting pretty lusty over road bikes. I am kind of sick of riding my old Univega Town & country bike. It just isn't fast enough. I'm thinking about just a cheap single speed bike as where I live now is mostly flat. There really isn't any need for gears for me unless I can find a used road bike on the cheap. It just seems hard to find a decent bike that isn't like all the others around this college town. Hopefully after x-mass I'll have enough to get a new bike. I'm just sick of not being able to go fast.
